Post-Cancer Oral Reconstruction

For most post-cancer patients, oral reconstruction can dramatically improve physical appearance and quality of life. Commonly, oral reconstructive surgery is applied to patients after treatment of certain skin cancers, and cancers of the head and neck regions.

Skin and Head & Neck Cancers
Depending on the severity and location of the cancer, skin cancer reconstruction options can range from simple closure, to flaps or flaps with bone attached. Many times bone grafting can be used to augment the remaining bony skeleton. The primary drive in reconstruction is to restore both function and form (not necessarily in that order). Dr. Arné has an outstanding working relationship with other specialists in the area including Plastic Surgery, Otolaryngology (ENT), and General Surgery. Each discipline brings something different to the table and allows multiple options concerning the final treatment plan.
